Attraction Marketing: STOP Selling and START Attracting

Let me ask you a question.

Would you ever walk up to random stranger and ask them to sleep with you?

Now I know you may be thinking, “Torri…wait… what?! What the heck does that have to do with selling products online?”

And the answer?

a lot, and it’s called attraction marketing, which I will get to that more about in a sec.

The network marketing industry has a bad reputation for being a ‘pyramid scheme’ and simply ‘too good to be true’. – Much stemming from the fact that so many people fail to make things happen.

I mean, I think the 99% failure rate kind of speaks for itself.

And the big question is, how is it that two people can be in the same business opportunity and given the exact same training, tools, and blueprint to follow, yet only one of them can find their way to success?

There’s a few answers, but the biggest is definitely mindset – More specifically, the mindset of employee vs. entrepreneur.

When you have the mindset of an employee, it shines pretty bright- Desperately blasting ‘join me’ links in Facebook groups, messaging like-minded people and begging them to join you, the works.

All of these things eventually start to scream “pick me, pick me” and it’s pretty obvious you aren’t having much success.

Now with the mindset of an entrepreneur, things are quite the opposite- Sharing value in Facebook groups, messaging people you pick out yourself and actually want to work with, and working in the trenches to help others.

THAT right there is what makes the difference, which now brings us back to the sleeping with strangers part of this post, ha.

If you wouldn’t ask some random stranger you just met to sleep with you, then why would you ask someone to straight up join your business at first sight?

Wouldn’t you rather build a relationship with the person first?

The same concept applies with Network marketing.

People love to buy but hate to be sold, so why would you not focus on build a relationship with them before trying to shove your opportunity down their throat?

When you can find a way to attract people to you instead of chasing them down just to make a sell, things begin to fall into place and the “this is too hard” concept starts to float from your mind.

Hope this is all starting to make sense. 🙂

So now that we know that success in the network marketing game is a competition between attraction and a sense of desperation, let’s discuss a few ways to tackle it.

#1: Build Relationships

Something we already discussed, yet it cannot be stressed enough.

Business 101 = Building Relationships

People are more likely to buy from, open emails from, and overall listen to people that they trust, and one of the best ways to get to this point is through relationship building.

This may sound a little harsh, but people are selfish by nature and have a strong focus on themselves. They constantly focus on their own problems, wants, desires, and needs: bills, lack of family time, lack of time with spouse, little time off work, kids’s futures, etc.

When you put others ahead of yourself and help them get what they want, they will hardly ever hesitate when you recommend a product or other type of service.

Even better, you won’t have to have a huge list to make a ton of money online.

Having a smaller list of let’s say 5,000 people that like and trust you will almost always earn more money than a bigger list of say 50,000 people that aren’t as engaged.

That my friend is the true power of building relationships.

In the online world the name of the game is value, and the amount of value you put out is equivalent to how valuable you are in your industry.

Think about it.

There are hundreds of thousands of “me too” marketers out there trying to make it just like you, so you’ve got to find a way to stand out.

Aside from consistent and focused action, providing massive value is a top notch way to do this.

Focus on growing your wisdom and overall value on a daily basis by immersing yourself in training videos, listening to powerful audios, reading books, and creating at least one piece of content.

Then apply what you learn and share the information with others.

It’s really as simple as that, folks.

Learn what your audience wants, discover the problems they’re having, create valuable content that helps them with those problems, appear as an authority and earn their trust which equals a Simple formula for creating massive value online.

#3: Interact With Leaders

While we’re still talking about standing out, I want to let you in on another great way to do this is which is by frequently interacting with leaders.

Find 2-5 leaders in your industry and interact with them whether it be through Twitter, Facebook profiles and fan pages, their blog, whatever.

You can do this by commenting on the things they post on their blog or social profiles, and when I say comment I mean leave a genuine comment.

Not just, “great post” or “thanks for sharing this awesome content with us”. That stuff is cheesy and overdone.

Instead, leave a comment that adds value, genuinely contributes, and sparks an interest.

The idea is to catch the attention of these leaders and others that are interacting and visiting those pages.

The more consistent you are the more people will take notice of you. Your social profiles will start getting a lot more visits and interaction along with many more friend requests.

Sooner or later you will catch the attention of some of these leaders and interacting with them will take you from a  “me too” marketer to authority figure.

Did I mention, it will come with a whole new level of credibility? 🙂

#4: Make Yourself Reachable

No matter how much success you ever have online, you should always make yourself available to help out other people.

People buy people, not products. Therefore, people want to buy from people that aren’t going to take their money and run.

That being said, you should make yourself available to help others.

I’m not saying that you need to be available to answer questions 24/7 because with that you are only costing yourself time and money.

However, you should set time to help others whether it be through a Facebook group, a Skype or phone call, email, chatting on social media sites, etc.

People want to feel assured and you can help them by making yourself easy to get a hold of.

#5: Be Yourself

Whether you believe it or not, you already have one of the greatest gifts in your possession and that’s your personality.

There are tons of people out there that will resonate and connect with you, it’s just a matter of letting go and just being yourself.

As a result of not doing this, people will be able to see right through you and you won’t come off as genuine in your writing, videos, emails, etc.

When I stopped trying to be like other marketers and just relaxed enough to be myself, it became so much easier to write content and make videos because I didn’t have to act.

Stop wearing a mask and start letting your true colors shine through.

Sure there will be people that don’t get you or even don’t like you, but who cares. There are tons of other people out there that will see your vision and click with you and take it from me, these are the type of people you will want to work with.

This is one of the great things about just being yourself because it weeds out the people that you won’t click well with and that won’t fully vibe with your vision.

That way you attract people like yourself that see your vision and will be fun to work with.

#6: Share Your Story

It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what you’ve been through, or what. Everybody has a story to share and believe it or not, there’s a humongous chance someone out there can relate.

And believe it or not, it will be one of the biggest tools in your arsenal.

Your story shows people that you’re a normal person just like them and the discusses the struggles you have faced along your journey.

Many people will have shared some of your same experiences, making it much easier for them to relate.

One of the coolest things in the world is the feeling of knowing that your story touched or helped someone.

As you can see, attraction marketing is a much more effective way to bring people into your business as opposed to chasing them down.

You appear as a leader in their eyes, they receive high quality, high value content & information… everybody wins.

The best part about it is that you never have to worry about selling to people until they have joined your list, and by that point you will have already earned their like and/or trust, so it’s like they won’t feel like they’re being sold.

People love to buy but hate to be sold, so attraction marketing is going to be one of your best bets for online marketing success.

Until Next Time,

Torri Thompson
