It’s been over 6 months since I posted on here last, but there’s actually a very good reason for that. Since then, the seasons have changed, another year has began, and I have switched my focus from affiliate and network marketing to local marketing. And I must say, it’s been quite refreshing.
For the longest time I wanted to make money with a network marketing business, even though I wasn’t really getting anywhere. I stayed on this path for too long and it took almost 3 years to realize that it just wasn’t my thing.
After weeks of constant consideration, I jumped off the network marketing cliff and landed into the clear blue shallow waters of local marketing where there is far less competition, and a long term business model that has more purpose.
I must admit that I was scared to death of the idea of speaking to local business, and drastically dreaded it at first in comparison to the idea of sitting on my couch lounging in my comfy cotton PJ’s and hardly networking with anyone.
The idea took some time to get used to, but I eventually opened my eyes as I began to see the major differences between network and local marketing. Sure network marketing is great, but at the end of the day I felt like another “me too” opportunity seeker. I mean, how long can you expect a business like Empower Network, Internet Lifestyle Network, or whatever is “hot” these days, to last?
This is something we have absolutely no control over and could be taken away at any day? At that point, it’s not really your business, but an opportunity for you to receive business.
I know it sounds like I’m dissing on network marketing, but I’m really not. I think it’s a great way to meet new people and learn team building skills that you may not have been able to use elsewhere. It’s just not a viable option for a long term business.
The only future I can see in network marketing is moving from business opportunity to business opportunity as the years go by, and constantly having to compete with hundreds of thousands of other marketers along the way.
I don’t know about you, but I would rather build a business that I have 100% control over… which speaking of, I actually did.
Allow me to introduce Blue Crescent Marketing, my new business that helps local business owners with their online web presence and reputation.
I started BCM back in March of this year (2015) and have built quite the foundation.
I have been able to finally quit my job and actually do something that I love doing.
Before I discovered local marketing, I was all over the place with my online skills. I was a jack of all trades and a master of none, which is exactly why I never had much success in the 3 and 1/2 years that have been leading up to this.
I never had a strong passion for the things I was doing before, which is why I think I had such a hard time making myself get it done and enjoy the process.
The way I feel about local marketing is completely different from the way I felt about network marketing, and I have to say that the difference is passion.
Before, I was forcing myself into an area I didn’t have that much of an interest in, and one I really didn’t feel right operating in.
With local marketing, I’m proud to tell people what I do these days, instead of hesitating with a nervous reply of “um….I make money blogging and showing people how to do the same” like I used to do.
The difference is truly astounding.
My newfound success has given birth to the idea for my newest project that I plan to call “Elevated Passions” which will be coming out most likely by the end of the Summer.
The idea is share everything that pertains to living life to the fullest and finding your passions. I plan to share how owning your own business can allow you the time and financial freedom to find your true self and your passions, and have the freedom to pursue them at elevated levels.
Well, that about wraps up my Summer so far, and what I have been up to since I posted on here back in September of 2014.
Look out, cause my full personality is about to come out.
See ya soon.
